GHF Exclusive Interview with Heathyr Hoffman
Ghost Hunters Fans is proud to present an exclusive interview with former Ghost Hunters Academy recruit Heathyr Hoffman! In our exclusive interview Heathyr tells us more about auditioning for the show, changes in her life since appearing on TV, her future in the paranormal field, and much more!
Can you tell us anything about the inside of the GHA RV?
Don't open the fridge! That thing smelled to high heaven; I have no idea what made it that way since it wasn't ever operational. Everyone's tendency when getting on the RV was to say "Oh, hey, I wonder if the fridge works" and go to open it; meanwhile those who were familiar with the Stench would be diving at them in slow-motion going "Noooooooooo!"

TAPS Visit Absecon Lighthouse
The Press of Atlantic City is reporting today that TAPS recently visited the Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City to tape an investigation to be aired as the season premiere of Season 6 in February 2010. Some of the claims reported at the location are odd noises and appartions reported by staff members.
The Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City will be in the spotlight when the SyFy Channel’s “Ghost Hunters” kicks off its new season in February.
The Atlantic Paranormal Society from the series was at the lighthouse last week, investigating reports that the 150-year-old structure was haunted. Some lighthouse staff have reported hearing odd noises and seeing strange things while working at the landmark, which bills itself as the state’s tallest lighthouse.
Ghost Hunters SyFy's Most Watched of 2009
As Season 5 of Ghost Hunters gears up for its season finale this Wednesday, the numbers are already in for 2009. Ghost Hunters is among the three top original SyFy series this year along with Warehouse 13 and Eureka. The show also reached a series high this year with the greatest amount of viewers in five seasons. SyFy itself has also enjoyed success, with its final quarter of 2009 the best quarter in the comapany's history.
Audience gains were fueled by a diverse, imagination-driven programming schedule led by freshman sensation Warehouse 13, Eureka, Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth – all hitting series highs in 2009 – along with the Friday one-two punch of Stargate Universe and Sanctuary.
Ghost Hunters
Season five of Ghost Hunters averaged a 2.1 HH Rating, 3.05 million total viewers, 859,000 Adults 18-34, 1.88 Million Adults 18-49 and 1.96 million Adults 25-54, its best season in the key demos and the best season ever for a Syfy original series in Adults 18-49.
Compared to season four, this represented increases of +8% in HH rating, +9% in total viewers, +14% in Adults 18-34, +9% in Adults 18-49 and +10% in Adults 25-54.

Ghost Hunters Visit Hartford's Old State House
Next Wednesday's episode of Ghost Hunterswill featureHartford's Old State House in Hartford, Connecticut. The results from the investigation have been kept a tight secret since TAPS visited in early October. The episode featuring The Old State House will air December 9.
HARTFORD -- The birthplace of Connecticut state government will be thrust onto the national stage next Wednesday when the SyFy Network's top-rated "Ghost Hunters" premieres its paranormal investigation of Connecticut's Old State House. The program's investigators visited the building in early October, and their examination of Connecticut's original state capitol makes its world premiere on Dec. 9 at 9 p.m.
While the outcome of the investigation remains a closely-guarded secret, stories of "ghostly" phenomena at the Old State House have abounded for years. So much so, that the Ghost Hunters production team contacted the museum more than nine months ago in hopes of conducting an investigation.
"The cast and crew were great to work with," said Bill Bevacqua, director of communications for Connecticut's Old State House. "They truly appreciated the history of the building and showed great concern for trying to dispel myths and rumors with their investigation while searching for actual evidence of the paranormal."
Regardless of what's revealed on the show, the Old State House staff looks forward to the building receiving national attention.

Dave Tango Talks Tourette's, 'Academy', & More
Dave Tango sheds new light on his lifelong struggle with Tourette Syndrome and talks more about Ghost Hunters Academy in a new interview with ParanormalPopCulture. In the new interview he mentions how he got onto Ghost Hunters, his filming schedule now that he was two shows to appear in, the methods he and Steve Gonsalves teach the recruits, growing up with Tourette Syndrome, and his love of peanut butter.
Q: How did a magician from New Jersey get on a hit cable show, and then eventually get his own series?
TANGO: I had my own little group in Jersey and we contacted TAPS because we had a place that had potential. They came and let me and a friend be a guest on an episode. I just got along with everyone, and two weeks later I got a call and they asked if I wanted to give it a trial run … I haven’t messed up since then, I guess!
Q: Because it’s not a science and there are no real experts, the paranormal has a lot of disbelievers. How do you deal with those who dismiss this pursuit of yours?
TANGO: No matter what kind of evidence anyone catches - if we, for instance, got miraculous video footage and we’re all there to witness it - there will always be someone saying, “You know what, it’s just a video.” I think the only way for someone to see for themselves is to be there in a haunted spot and actually witness something … But there will still be people so headstrong that even if they see a ghost and it talks to them, they’re still not going to believe it.
Q: How does that relate to growing up with Tourette Syndrome?
TANGO: It was rough growing up with it. A lot of people didn’t understand it, including teachers, believe it or not. I was never picked on when I was a kid. I was lucky for some reason … even the bullies liked me. But the teachers were the ones who weren’t educated or know anything about it. They would ask, “Why are you doing that?” and I’d be like, “Well, I can’t help it.”
Q: How did you cope with that?
TANGO: I’d have to get out of my seat and walk the halls because I’d have to tic a lot [experience [involuntary movements and vocalizations]. I’d have to move and couldn’t be in one spot for a long period of time. I would get embarrassed by teachers because they’d just shout out loud with, “What are you doing? You’re weird.” That was a big problem growing up with that.
Q: How did that lead to your father beginning the benefit?
TANGO: He saw the way it was hard for me growing up. It really touched him. He loves doing this every year because he knows at some point we will find a cure. We keep getting closer and closer. It’s tough to deal with, always moving around, but it will be good to see people supporting this cause.
Q: We’ve already seen some discipline take place on the show, so who’s the good cop and bad cop between you and Steve?
TANGO: It switches around. There are a few times on the show where I get kind of angry. Not because I’m a jerk, but because of common sense stuff. Safety issues are areas I was really getting mad about. Besides, if you want to be part of our group, then you need to step up. I had to. I was a young kid and got into this whole thing with Ghost Hunters and they hammered me too. I had to go through the same thing these guys go through.
Q: When you and Steve drive the cadets around, do you ever think of yourselves as parents on a road trip with the kids?
TANGO: In a weird, weird way. We’ll catch ourselves saying, “Oh the kids …” The kids? These guys are almost my age. Even the crew say it sometimes.
Q: But aren’t they your TAPS tots? They’re your babies. You know, they grow up so fast.
TANGO: [laughs] Sometimes I think that!
Q: How is it on the inside of the R.V.? Anything you like to have on hand?
TANGO: It’s pretty cozy in there, but I love peanut butter. I’m a simple man; just jars of peanut butter and spoons … And chocolate big time. Steve’s really big into rewarding the recruits. I try to put in as much as I can, but not as much as him. He’s a very thoughtful person.

Winners of Pair-A-Normal Contest Ready to Investigate
Christian Sacoolas and Jennifer Nelson, winners of SyFy's Pair-A-Normal Contest, are ready to hunt for ghosts in their area, reports the Santa Cruz Sentinel. The couple has won research equipment which is valued at being worth $10,000 and plans for their investigations to be filmed for the internet and possibly be broadcast on television. To find out more about Christian Sacoolas and Jennifer Nelson's investigations visit www.facebook.com/santacruzparanormal.
Sacoolas and Nelson beat out hundreds of other applicants on a live episode broadcast Halloween night. They were selected by The Atlantic Paranormal Society and SyFy "Ghost Hunter" co-stars Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, and were judged on the basis of their passion for paranormal research, team chemistry and an understanding of investigation techniques.
The pair will be awarded research equipment, valued around $10,000, which they will use to investigate reported paranormal activity in Santa Cruz County and beyond. Their investigations will be filmed for the Internet and possible broadcast on television.
"We'd like to get a big spotlight on some local places," Sacoolas said.
Sacoolas and Nelson will approach their ghost-hunting scientifically, they said. They are enlisting a research team, while both friends and strangers suggest places to investigate. Suggestions so far include Porter College and the Barn Theater at UC Santa Cruz, the Brookdale Inn and Spa and the Winchester Mystery House.
Nelson said that their victory was sudden.
"We went from Point A to Point X in a half a second," she said.
Nelson said they are open to investigating just about anything, and that they will learn as they go. They're hoping that individuals and businesses will get in touch with them, she said.
Sacoolas said they will become "weekend warriors," balancing their research into the paranormal with fulltime jobs and school. All investigations will be free.
The duo is planning a test run, once the equipment arrives in a few weeks. Nelson said that they are open to suggestions or additional crew members, and that people can contact them through their Facebook page.
Sacoolas and Nelson, who will be celebrating their five-year anniversary as a couple this month, said that they've been watching "Ghost Hunters" together throughout their relationship.
"People and our culture have really categorized this idea of a ghost and assigned attributes to that," Sacoolas said. "And I'm not sure if I subscribe to any of that. We're just kind of curious."
Donna LaCroix Rips On Ghost Hunters
Donna LaCroix, former TAPS team member, appeared on the "Ghost Divas" radio show and nothing but negative things to say about her experience on the show Ghost Hunters. Among her many allegations were that her contract with the show almost made her bankrupt, that the show is complete enterainment and rumor has it that there is a staging crew, that Brian Harnois was exploited to the point of mental abuse, and she admits that she is bitter. At then end of the show she does mention that her exerperience was not all bad and that "she made some great connections, met some really nice people and was glad that Ghost Hunters had brought the paranormal discussion into so many living rooms." Jason Hawes has rebutted Donna's claims with these remarks:
Peoples (sic) views on things are their views, People can say whatever they want. That is what makes the country great.
I was asked not to respond about it directly from Syfy and Pilgrim, They want to write something up and release it. We have nothing to hide so I am comfortable with that.
I do ask that the fans of GH to not attack her in anyway, and please do not say negative things about her.
For a few minutes this was on Jason’s Twitter feed but then it was removed:
As for those asking if I heard radio thing. A bit. Not concerned at all. TAPS has never done anything wrong. People can say what they want.
Donna then responded with these remarks:
I wasn’t trying to discredit anyone. I was answering questions about MY experience. I never said anyone faked anything, just that if it did go on, I wouldn’t be privy to any info because everyone knows I take investigating seriously.
Thank you all for your support. And I do applaud Jason for coming forward with a reply. And, please no attacks on Jason, GH, and GHI. I NEVER intended my words would be on the flame throwing level.

Sneak Peeks Of Next Week's GH & GHA
Next week brings two new episodes of Ghost Hunters and the newly premiered Ghost Hunters Academy. TAPS is headed down south and investigates the Pensacola Lighthouse while the Ghost Hunters Academy recruits are boarding the USS North Carolina to test out their ghost hunting skills. You can see both video previews at this link.
This week on Ghost Hunters Academy, Steve and Tango take the investigators-in-training down to North Carolina and put their skills to the test at the U.S.S. Carolina. Their job will be to collect concrete evidence that will back up the chilling claims of doors slamming, people talking, and pots and pans banging when there's no one else in the room. They'll learn how to use more ghost hunting technology. But will their egos get in the way as they try to maneuver through the haunted ship maze? Tune in to see if one of the students ends up walking the plank and kissing their dreams of becoming a Ghost Hunter goodbye.
Head down south with the i>Ghost Hunters crew as they investigate the spooky Pensacola Lighthouse. Tales of a ghost-like woman lurking the halls have been passed down from generation to generation. Brace yourself as TAPS searches for clues to explain creepy transparent figures, invisible fingers tapping guests on the head and light switches turning off and on by themselves. Tune in as the team reveals some of their most startling on-camera evidence yet!

Ghost Hunters Academy SyFy's Highest Rated Reality Premiere
Last night's Ghost Hunters Academy premiere was a huge success with more than two million viewers. The show beat out South Park and Nip/Tuck. The premiere was one of SyFy's highest rated "reality" premieres in nearly two years (the January 2008 premiere of Ghost Hunters International) according to TVByTheNumbers.
New York, NY – November 12, 2009 – Continuing the popularity of Ghost Hunters — the #1 paranormal investigative franchise on television — spin-off Ghost Hunters Academy became Syfy’s most successful reality series premiere in nearly two years during its debut Wednesday, November 11, at 10PM (ET/PT). The series delivered 2.07 million total viewers, 1.2 million Adults 18-49 and 1.3 million Adults 25-54 along with a 1.5 HH rating.
These were the highest viewership marks for a reality series premiere since the January 2008 debut of sibling Ghost Hunters International.
Head-to-head in the 10PM (ET/PT) time period, Ghost Hunters Academy trimmed FX’s Nip/Tuck in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, while besting Comedy Central’s South Park in Adults 25-54.
Coupled with Ghost Hunters at 9PM (ET/PT) – Ghost Hunters Academy catapulted Syfy into the #2 slot among all basic cable networks for both Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 during 8-11PM prime (ET/PT).

Steve & Dave On Being 'Paranormal Professors'
With the series premiere of Ghost Hunters Academy just a few hours away, a new interview conducted by Aaron Sagers of ParanormalPopCulture.com with 'paranormal professors' Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango gives us more insight into the show. In the interview, Steve and Dave talk about the furusturating aspect of teaching new recruits, the impact that Ghost Hunters has had on the paranormal field, some of the misconceptions about ghost hunting, and much more!
Q: What makes for a good cadet and potential TAPS member?
GONSALVES: The passion – that it’s there, it’s in them and that they love it and want to do it forever. If you join our team, we don’t investigate in the same capacity as any other team on the planet. We’re much more involved with much more equipment. We do multiple investigations a week where most teams do one a month. If your heart’s not completely in it, you’re going to fizzle out after six, seven, eight months.
Q: What’s a common misconception your cadets, and even some viewers, have about paranormal investigative shows?
TANGO: These people come into the show and a lot of them think it’s just like they see on TV. That it’s like 20 minutes in a room, and that’s not the case at all. There’s a lot more to it and I’m glad Steve and I were able to show them that. It can be rough sometimes, but that’s the way it is. It’s not as easy as it looks. Yeah, we’re sitting down and we’re pointing a camera but there’s a lot more to it with the setup and the procedures and protocol of investigating.
GONSALVES: You have to have a lot of knowledge. Not that we all have degrees in it, but you have to have a lot of knowledge in the paranormal: the current theories, the past theories, the energy theories. You have to know all this stuff and they all came in not knowing any of it but boasting as if they did. One person says, “I love it, I love it, it’s my favorite.” She’s so happy that it’s what she’s wanted to do forever, but yet has never read one book, never been to one lecture, never done anything. How can that passion be in you for as long as you can remember but you’ve never bothered to pick up one book?
TANGO: Don’t just say, “I read this on the Internet, I read that on the Internet.” You need to get real books from parapsychologists and true investigators. A lot of these students say, “Well I read this on the Internet so it must be true.” Maybe it is, but we don’t know that.
GONSALVES: We have one girl who says it’s been her lifelong dream to be a parapsychologist. I finally asked her, “How do you plan to do that?” She says she’s going to go to school for it. It made me realize she had no idea what she was talking about. There is no accredited course in the United States for that … These are people who think they know everything but are quickly finding out that they don’t really know anything.
Q: While you have to train the cadets, do you also have to break bad habits picked up from watching TV, and even from watching the main Ghost Hunters show?
GONSALVES: It would be breaking bad habits, but there’s only one or two of them that have any investigation experience coming into it. Those people we definitely had to break bad habits. The other people we had to break bad habits because they did see these things on TV, but it was a little easier because they didn’t have any prior experience. It was frustrating, it really was. There’s this one that just claims to be the queen of the paranormal, but yet… Well, you’ll see on the show. But it was an experience they all loved. Afterwards, they say, “This was amazing.”
TANGO: You do see progress. Whether it’s a little bit or a lot … a lot of it is just common sense stuff. I think, for Steve and I, that was the most frustrating - things that you don’t have to have any knowledge about. That’s the stuff that bothered me the most.
Q: Is it tough being the boss?
GONSALVES: What’s funny is we all become friends. We’re all on the road, we investigate every week and we spend 12 hours a day with these people … so it gets a little tough.
TANGO: They’re all great people, and it does get kind of tough but we have to do what we have to do.

Eddie McClintock from the SyFy series Warhouse 13 will be joining that TAPS team this week for the season finale investigation of the gravesite of Buffalo Bill.
The West is about to get a whole lot wilder. "Warehouse 13's" Eddie McClintock dons Ghost Hunters gear for a special TAPS investigation. Today, the team tackles the haunted gravesite of the legendary Buffalo Bill. Violent, invisible forces are believed to haunt the area. The mysterious specter of a cowboy has been spotted in the neighboring museum. Spooky whispers echo through the building's empty halls. Could TAPS have a close encounter with our nation's greatest showman? Or will they run into more hostile spirits?
The winners of the Ghost Hunters Pair-Anormal Contest were announced Halloween night during the Ghost Hunters Live Countdown. Christian Sacoolas and Jennifer Nelson from Scotts Valley, California were chosen from hundreds of applicants to be the "next Jason and Grant". Visit SyFy.com to view their video audition and those of other contestants. Congratulations Christian and Jennifer!
